The rate of this natural ageing process depends on environmental conditions, particularly humidity.

Fingerprints, candle wax, grease and other corrosive substances may eventually leave marks or stains, especially if the item is kept in a humid environment.

To maintain the polished finish, gently wipe the surface with a soft, dry cloth. For more thorough cleaning, use a mild brass polish free from abrasive particles. As polished brass can scratch easily, avoid brushes, steel wool, abrasive sponges and coarse polishing cloths.

Avoid prolonged contact with corrosive substances, as these may permanently affect the surface. After cleaning, always ensure the item is completely dry by wiping it with a soft, dry cloth, as residual moisture may alter its appearance over time.

With regular care, the polished finish can be maintained. If allowed to age naturally, the brass will gradually develop a distinctive patina unique to its environment and use.
